The team at Free Rein are celebrating their achievements after Mark and Jeff both achieved personal best times at yesterday’s National Lottery Anniversary Run at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, London.Mark got around in a very respectable time of 48 minutes, with Jeff a little bit further back at 56 minutes.
The five mile course took in all of the highlights of the Olympic Park as it twisted and turned its way around the Velodrone, the Orbit Tower, Dohl and Samba Bands, not forgetting the Olympic Stadium itself.Commenting on the run Mark Oxford joked ‘The highlight of the run for me was getting back in time to see Little Mix perform, as a long-time fan it was great to finally see them live’.
The real highlight was the last 300 meters of the run as you entered the Olympic Stadium to a huge roar from the 10,000’s of people cheering you passed the 200 meter marker and finally across the Olympic finish line.
Jeff commented ‘The last half mile was getting a little bit too hot, but once you got inside the stadium everyone got a boost from the crowd. It was worth doing the 5 miles just for the last 300 meters in the stadium’
Both Jeff and Mark are raising money for charity. With Mark supporting the ‘East Anglian Children’s Hospice’, and Jeff supporting ‘Riding For The Disabled Association – Hollesley Group’.
