Residents in a Suffolk market town have received a Christmas boost after it has been announced an additional bus service will run throughout the festive season.
The Hadleigh Community Transport Group – which seeks to provide transport for everyone – will run an additional comprehensive bus service in and around the town over the festive period.
The Hadleigh Town Service will run a time tabled route several times a day every Tuesday and Friday for a five week period beginning on Tuesday, 3 December.
Despite running to very tight budgets, The Hadleigh Community Transport Group has managed to raise funds for the Christmas service via the donation it received from the Co-Op token scheme which ran earlier in the year.
Joy Moran, the group’s manager, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer this additional bus service which will be a huge boost to the town over the Christmas period. The service will run several times a day and the route will operate around the town. Bus passes are accepted. The service will be open to everyone but it will be particularly useful to those who have no access to other forms of transport, including some of the most vulnerable people in our community, who will now be able to get out and about over the Christmas period, either to go shopping, buy presents, take part in festive events or to visit loved ones at this important time of year. The service will also link up to other routes to other towns such as Ipswich, Stowmarket and Sudbury.”
