Our Mission

The Hadleigh Chamber of Commerce exists to support and represent the wide cross-section of businesses in the historic Suffolk market town of Hadleigh and the surrounding villages.

The Chamber’s current priorities are:

  • to raise the profile of Hadleigh through networking events, collaboration and representation
  • to increase and broaden the membership to help us understand the range of needs of Hadleigh’s business community
  • and to develop and deliver useful services for Hadleigh’s businesses

Through this website Members will have automatic Internet presence which they control themselves as well as access to a Members' forum and relevant business news from Hadleigh and the local region.

The Chamber covers the area of Babergh District boundaries north and south, West to Boxford and East to A12/A14. However, we welcome members and guests from further afield whether you do business in Hadleigh and District already or are hoping to develop contacts and relationships for the future.

We represent all areas of trade and commerce, from high street shops to international industry.  As an active lobbyist group, information provider and forum for debate, the Chamber looks after a wide range of business - and social - matters.

It doesn't matter where you are based, just that you have an interest in issues here. The Chamber is also not restricted to commercial organisations.

Over the years we have been an integral part of the successful fight to keep car parking free in Hadleigh. We also actively engaged with the planning and development authorities to ensure that they understood the potential impacts on Hadleigh of Tesco's plans to build a supermarket between the river and the high street.

We set up meetings where Hadleigh businesses can meet socially and are currently planning information events to enable our Members to keep up to date with matters such as health and safety, disability rules, national and local taxation, marketing and employment laws. 


Hadleigh Chamber became a Community Interest Company in 2013 following a unanimously supported resolution at the 2013 AGM. The process has happened during 2014 and the key results are that the Chamber funds are "locked in" to be for the benefit of Hadleigh and District businesses. The CIC is also now able to apply for a range of Government and EU grants and loans to help the businesses grow, promote tourism and help increase employment.

Hadleigh Chamber of Commerce CIC is registered in England and Wales No 8791002. It was incorporated on 26 November 2013 and the registered office is at 89 High Street, Hadleigh, Ipswich IP7 5EA. The Directors are A G Addison, S Garnham, I Bodsworth and M Hill. The day to day operations of the Chamber are managed through an operational committee that is elected from volunteers at the AGM. Each committee member has a portfolio area of responsibility. The Committee can then co-opt additional representatives for individual projects as required.

Chamber Commitee

The Chamber Committee is run entirely on a volunteer basis. We will try and respond to any issues as quickly as we can but please bear in mind we have our own businesses to run as well.
